About DURIAN Travel

Europe trip planning for non-European travelers, built around the reality of visas, long-haul logistics, and route decisions that generic travel content rarely covers.

Europe looks different depending on where you're coming from

Most travel content about Europe is written by people who live there, or who travel from countries where entry is straightforward and a visa is never part of the calculation.

For everyone else, the planning process looks different. The Schengen visa timeline can stretch across weeks or months. Minor itinerary decisions can change which embassy you apply to. Long-haul routing from Sao Paulo, Lagos, Seoul, Sydney, or Mexico City changes the cost, pacing, and shape of the trip before you even get to Europe.

Good guidance for non-European travelers has to reflect that. DURIAN exists because most generic Europe advice does not.

What DURIAN Travel does

DURIAN is a European travel consultancy. We work with individuals, couples, families, and small groups who are planning trips to Europe from outside the continent, helping them navigate the process from first question to boarding pass.

In practice, that means two connected areas of work: Schengen visa strategy and Europe itinerary planning. We help clients understand what embassies actually look for, identify weak spots in a document package before submission, and design routes that make sense for budget, timing, and the realities of getting to Europe from their home country.

Most clients need both. The visa and the itinerary are not separate problems. They are the same problem seen from two different angles.

Who we work with

Our clients come from every region outside Europe. Some are planning their first trip to the continent and need a clean path through the visa and planning process. Others are building longer, more complex itineraries that involve multiple countries, tight Schengen windows, or more demanding logistics.

What they share is that they are approaching Europe from the outside and want guidance built for that reality rather than advice written for someone who can cross a border by train without thinking about immigration, embassy representation, or long-haul routing.

The team

DURIAN was founded by Patricia Azevedo, a European travel consultant who spent years navigating European travel personally and professionally before building a consultancy around it. She leads all client work and is the person you will speak with directly.

She is supported by a small team contributing to research, destination content, and operational support. The destination guides on this site are grounded in real travel experience across Western, Northern, Central, and Eastern Europe.

What We Are and What We Are Not

We are

  • A consultancy that helps you understand and navigate the Europe trip planning process end-to-end
  • Experienced advisors who give direct, specific guidance instead of hedged generalities
  • A team that works with a manageable number of clients so each trip gets genuine attention

We are not

  • A travel agency that books flights or hotels on your behalf
  • A visa agency that submits applications as your representative or guarantees outcomes
  • A law firm — nothing here is legal advice
  • A template business selling the same itinerary to every client

If your situation is unusually complex, such as prior immigration violations or legal issues that genuinely require formal representation, we will tell you directly. We would rather refer you to the right expert than pretend every problem can be solved with travel consulting.

Why DURIAN

Durian is one of the most misunderstood things in the world. Difficult from the outside. Completely different once you know what you are dealing with. Planning a trip to Europe from outside the continent can feel exactly like that: opaque, overcomplicated, and full of warnings from people who have never actually done it.

Once you understand the real process, the real requirements, and the real logistics, it becomes far more manageable than it first appears. That is the work we do.
